About Us
A Long Line of Sharpening…
M & M Sharpening began as a project to obtain an Entrepreneurship merit badge for Patrick’s scout troop. We had talked about starting a sharpening business for years, and decided to make our dream become reality. We wrote a business plan, spent many hours perfecting our techniques, and bought the necessary tools. With an extensive background in professional tree cutting, Chainsaw chains are our specialty.
Meet the Team
BJ
Betty (BJ) is the face and voice of the business. She works the phones and answers the door, taking great care of our customers. We would not have our business if it wasn’t for her.
Mark
Mark learned how to sharpen from his grandfather in the 1970’s and spent several years in a Renaissance Faire forge, learning the basics of the forming and shaping of metal.
After starting the business with Patrick in 2010, Mark has spent countless hours on the bench sharpening, received extra training, and is a Master Sharpener. He also enjoys doing most of the social media for the business.
Patrick
Custodian by day, Sharpener by night (except on Saturdays, where you’ll often find us sharpening at the local farmers market). Patrick’s main goal is to get the business to the point where Mark could work at M & M full time if he wanted to.
Will
This is Will, he began his sharpening when his dad and brother started this business when he was 7. Soon after, he began picking up on how to do lawn equipment and pocket knives. He used these skills as an eagle scout to help others around him and has grown in his expertise ever since.
